Caramel chai tea latte

While I have been compensated for this caramel chai tea latte recipe by #CollectiveBias and its advertisers, all thoughts and opinions are my own. #SweetWarmUp

If you're trying to cut back on caffeine and refined sugar this year, swap your pricey coffee shop latte for this easy, rich and delicious DIY caramel chai tea latte.

A question for you to consider: How long have you been habitually and automatically drinking coffee to get yourself going in the morning? For me, it began when I was 17 (we won't talk about how long ago that was), a freshman in college ... and I wound up with a schedule of early-morning classes every day. But a few years ago, I spent a week at a British-run resort and started drinking tea every morning instead. I realized I preferred the flavor to coffee, and black tea had enough caffeine (half as much as coffee) to give me the little morning kickstart I needed without giving me the jitters. I never looked back.

Now, another question: Do you only think of tea, if you drink it at all, as an afternoon bevvie or a before-bed herbal relaxer? (I think I see a lot of hands going up.)

Well, peeps, it's time to wake up and smell the caramel chai latte, because tea is a great way to help you embrace The Way of Better Eating by cutting back on the amount of caffeine you consume while still giving you that little kickstart you (think you) need. Plus, thanks to the folks at Truvia, you can make even more positive choices and reduce your refined sugar intake by sweetening your latte with their natural, zero-calorie, stevia-plant-based sweetener.

If you're a regular coffee drinker, the idea of switching to tea might seem difficult. But I'm not talking about giving it up for a dainty cuppa English Breakfast with a squeeze of lemon. (You know that's not how The Ninj rolls!)

By teaming with Bigelow Tea, I'm really going to make it worth your while. Who wouldn't want to wake up to a caramel chai tea latte?

Yes, a tea latte! Truly, it couldn't be easier to make. Simply steep two tea bags (you want the flavor to be strong, since you'll be adding milk) in 1/2 cup of boiling water, then add some heated milk and flavor with a little Truvia or your sweetener of choice (you use a lot less sweetener when you use Truvia!).

Even better? With Bigelow tea's amazing array of tea flavors, you can really customize your latte for your taste and mood. I've been hooked on chai tea this winter, because the blend of exotic spices just seem so warming to me. Which is why I went with Bigelow's Caramel Chai tea for this latte. Want something more traditional with a heady aroma? Try making your latte with Earl Grey. Something a little lighter? Green tea would be a great choice.

And I did I mention that all these great Bigelow tea flavors and an array of Truvia products are all readily available at your local Target? (See? I just gave you an excuse to go shopping at Target! You're welcome.) Plus, you can save a little money on your purchase with the following offers:

Are you convinced yet? Will you try a morning tea latte in place of coffee this week? Leave a comment: The Ninj wants to know.
